The race starts at Maverick Saloon in the western town of Santa Ynez and passes through charming Los Olivos before finishing on Copenhagen Dr. in the Danish town of Solvang. Photo opportunities are plentiful as you pass through vineyards, lavender farms, fruit orchards and Arabian horse ranches. HealdsburgSaturday, October 25, 2008 Destination Races presents its newest jewel, the Healdsburg Wine Country Half Marathon. This vineyard-framed 13.1 mile course curves through the beautiful Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys north of Santa Rosa, California at the end of harvest when the vines are vibrant with fall colors. Patterned in part after the Marathon du Medoc in France this event is held on the Saturday prior to Halloween. The course begins at magnificent Rosso & Bianco Winery presented by Francis Ford Coppola. After finishing at Warm Springs recreation area next to Lake Sonoma you'll be treated to our largest Wine & Music Festival. Following the festival the annual doggie costume parade and Kids Pumpkin Run will be held in downtown Healdsburg.
